GAME OVERVIEW RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2
Red Dead Redemption 2 is an action-adventure game developed and published by Rockstar Games. Initially released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in October 2018, it later launched for Microsoft Windows in November 2019. This game is the third entry in the Red Dead series and serves as a prequel to 2010’s Red Dead Redemption. Set in 1899, within a fictionalized version of the Western, Midwestern, and Southern United States, the story follows Arthur Morgan, an outlaw and member of the Van der Linde gang, as he faces the fading era of the Wild West.
Alongside Arthur’s journey, players encounter John Marston, a fellow gang member and the protagonist of Red Dead Redemption. The game features both first- and third-person perspectives, offering players the freedom to explore its vast open world. Core gameplay elements include shootouts, heists, hunting, horseback riding, and interactions with non-playable characters (NPCs). Players must also manage Arthur’s honor, shaped by the moral choices they make throughout the game.
A bounty system, similar to the “wanted” system in Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto series, tracks player crimes and affects how law enforcement and bounty hunters respond. Additionally, Red Dead Online, the game’s multiplayer mode, was initially launched in beta in November 2018 and fully released in May 2019.
