Mercenaries Lament is a tactical simulation RPG set in a captivating fantasy realm. Players engage in battles on quarter-view maps that feature varying elevations, where the positioning of characters—whether at the front, back, or side of enemy units—can significantly influence the outcome of each encounter. The effectiveness of support effects is contingent upon the placement of allied characters within the party, enabling players to execute highly strategic maneuvers. Character development offers players considerable freedom, allowing them to acquire and enhance skills, as well as change classes using skill points earned through combat. The characters are exquisitely illustrated by Sakura Mochi, showcasing rich facial expressions that bring them to life. Advent Soul: When Amalie, the heroine, is part of your party, players can fill a gauge located at the top right of the screen, which allows for the accumulation of 1 BP (Battle Point) when full, with a maximum of 9 BP. Utilizing BP enables characters to enter a state known as “Advent Soul,” which enhances their abilities for a limited time. In this state, characters can perform “Advent attacks” in conjunction with other party members, as well as utilize “Soul Exceed” skills—special moves unique to each character. When a character in Advent mode is positioned to flank an enemy alongside an ally, a coordinated attack can be executed through a normal attack or skill, providing an opportunity for significant damage. Soul Exceed Skills: Characters in Advent mode can activate Soul Exceed skills at any time. These unique moves vary by character and can range from dealing substantial damage to enemies to restoring HP and curing ailments for all allies. However, using a Soul Exceed skill will end the character’s Advent mode.
Mastering these skills is crucial for achieving victory. Orbs with Hidden Power: Throughout the game, players can discover mysterious “Orbs” by progressing through the story, exploring specific locations, and defeating certain enemies. A total of 13 Orbs are scattered across the game world. Players can monitor their collection status on a dedicated screen and equip these Orbs as accessories. The implications of collecting all the Orbs remain a mystery. Story: Years have passed since a mysterious and incurable disease swept across the continent, transforming the deceased into mindless zombies that attack the living. In this grim reality, mercenaries have become essential for clearing the lands of the undead. Among them is Johann, the captain of the Silver Wolf Mercenary Company. After a fateful encounter with the Grim Reaper, who delivers a chilling prophecy—”In the next 100 days, your luck shall run out. That shall be the day of your fate”—Johann awakens from a fevered slumber to meet a young woman endowed with miraculous healing powers. Unsure if his encounter with the Reaper was merely a nightmare, Johann resolves to protect the miracle worker on her quest to save as many lives as possible. Together, they embark on a journey across the kingdom, curing the afflicted, while Johann grapples with the looming specter of his own mortality.
