Our work is subtle but vital: serving the people of Undermere with the occult tools they require, while safeguarding the delicate veil between worlds. At first glance, Undermere may appear a peaceful town nestled beside a great lake. But it rests perilously close to the threshold between this world and the next. It is our responsibility to guard that fragile boundary. Allow me to outline your duties—you’ll need to be ready from your very first day:
Welcome the Unusual:
Each day, you’ll open the doors to our warm, candlelit shop and greet townsfolk with all manner of strange and unexpected needs. Their requests are often unsettling—but rarely dull.
Study and Identify:
You’ll examine and catalogue arcane artefacts. Careful observation, logical deduction, and thorough reference to our illustrated tomes will be essential. Take care—errors can have… consequences.
Help or Hinder:
Your decisions carry weight. Some items solve problems, others… create them. Will you be generous, or let a little mischief slip through your fingers? In a town this small, reputations linger.
Explore and Discover:
Occasionally, you’ll need to venture beyond the shop—to investigate whispered rumors or recover lost relics. Use the hand-drawn maps I’ve left behind. They may be old, but they haven’t led me astray—yet.
Solve and Uncover:
The shop itself is full of secrets. Its walls are older than most realize, and its puzzles run deeper than they first appear. Keep your eyes open; not everything reveals itself at once.
Tend to the Familiar:
Lastly, you’ll be expected to care for Jupiter, the shop’s cat and long-standing resident. He asks little—an occasional scratch behind the ears will suffice—but offers quiet companionship in return.
