When the corrupt nobles imposed the vile law of Prima Nocta, they ignited a rebellion. The poor and a handful of just lords rose in defiance, waging a desperate war that ended in the bloody Battle of the Brides. The uprising was crushed, its warriors slaughtered, their banners torn and scattered to the winds. You are Eric of Woldham, one of the few survivors. Returning home, you find your village burned to the ground, your people dead, and your sister taken by the victors.
Tales of Old: Dominus tells the story of Eric’s vengeance—an open-world RPG that weaves together brutal combat, immersive stealth, survival, crafting, and the rise of rebellion. From the smoldering ruins of his home, Eric’s journey will carry him through war-torn forests and corrupt cities, from hunted outcast to master of men, until he stands ready to bring down the lords who bled the realm dry.
Blood will be spilled. Battles are fought with period-accurate weapons, whether clashing in brutal close combat or striking from afar with bow and crossbow. Every encounter can end in death, surrender, or mercy—the choice is yours. But not every fight is won by the sword; sometimes, stealth and cunning are the sharper weapons. Move through shadows shaped by light and sound, hide in forests or among the bustle of cities, and survive the wild as well as the war. Hunger, thirst, and the elements are constant enemies; rain, snow, and cold can kill as surely as steel. Hunt, forage, craft, or steal—do whatever it takes to endure.
Eric’s path is not bound by class or destiny. Shape his skills and choose his future: a noble swordsman, a cunning thief, a hardened commander, or something entirely your own. Begin with nothing but a campfire and a will to survive, crafting weapons, clothing, and tools; then build and rule your own settlements. Attract followers, manage villages and strongholds, command troops in battle, and lead your people in a second uprising against the tyranny that crushed the first. Yet power always has a price, and loyalty is bought in blood and silver.
