Your task is straightforward: sound the whistle to ensure the train remains on schedule. However, the air is thin at this altitude. Refrain from speaking, running, or peering into the train. Focus solely on your duty; it will soon come to an end. Breathing at the Border Post is feasible, but catching your breath is a challenge.
Every effort feels like a step closer to the grave, and each whistle you blow carries a weighty consequence. Your only relief comes from the air canisters distributed as a reward for your diligence, so it’s essential to perform well. There is no shortage of responsibilities to occupy your time during your shift: submit reports, maintain the water filter, gather discarded wood. And don’t be concerned about the odor; Mo, your colleague at the Border Post, is here to assist. Though his shift has ended, he will gladly respond if you call upon him and can address any inquiries you may have—except for one particular question. He won’t deceive you, so avoid putting him in that position.
Your decisions hold significance. Which decisions? What country do you hail from? Does it truly matter? Engage in a semi-linear narrative where each moment presents the potential for a new path—or perhaps not. Such is the nature of existence. Exhale.
