Vivat Slovakia is an open-world video game set in the newly established democratic nation of Slovakia, situated on the border between Western and Eastern Europe. Despite efforts to eradicate the remnants of communism, the country’s law enforcement agencies remain weak, and corruption runs deep. Money and violence reign supreme in what is aptly named the tumultuous era of the 90s. In Bratislava, the streets are under the control of mob gangs who operate with impunity, even in broad daylight. Extortion, car bombings, and other violent acts are commonplace.
Some government officials have formed alliances with these criminal organizations, utilizing their services for illicit activities. The distinction between the secret service and organized crime has become increasingly blurred, with once opposing parties now collaborating to amass wealth and influence. For the average citizen, connections are crucial for advancement, and the prevailing mentality is summed up in the phrase, “You don’t have what you don’t steal.” In this unconventional gangster-themed open-world game, players assume the role of a bald man in his thirties working undercover for the secret police. Operating as a taxi driver, you have the freedom to navigate the city and closely monitor individuals of interest.
